This ride is organized and led by an organization outside the control of the New Mexico Touring Society. It is listed here for the information of NMTS members and as an opportunity for members to join this ride individually or in groups. The NM Law Enforcement Memorial Ride is a yearly fundraising cycling event that pays tribute the New Mexico Law Enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. The event begins in downtown Albuquerque and travels north 100 kilometers (64 miles) to the NM State Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Santa Fe, NM. Along the route the participants pass six locations where seven officers have given their lives in the line of duty. (A 30k event is also available for those who would like to participate in a much shorter ride.)
Starts in downtown ABQ and is police-escorted to the mouth of Tijeras Canyon. 30KM ride goes to Tijeras Substation (.5 mi S of 333 on 337.) Burrito breakfast served here. 100KM ride continues North up Hwy 14 thru San Antonito, Golden & Madrid to The NM Law Enforcement Academy in Santa Fe. There are restroom/refreshment stations along the way. Lunch is served at the end, and return is via NM Railrunner from Santa Fe County-NM 599 station at 1:21 or 3:27, arriving back in downtown ABQ at 2:38 or 4:49.
