NMTS Ride Schedule

NOTE: In addition to these one time rides, the club has recurring rides most days of the week. To view them, choose the "Weekly Rides" link in the menu at your left.
Pace is the speed, plus or minus one, that will be maintained on flat terrain with no wind. Distance refers to miles traveled in a day; on multi-day rides it refers to total miles for the trip, and a daily average is calculated from that.
Rides with a light-green background occur over multiple days
HELMETS CSPC, Snell or ANSI Approved Helmets are REQUIRED for all NMTS rides.
EBIKES Class 1 E-bikes are welcome where conditions allow, and at the ride leader's discretion. Class 2 and Class 3 E-bikes are not permitted on NMTS rides.

Arizona in January

Cold weather is here and I’m planning our annual trip to Arizona in January of 2023. Will Ferrell has asked me to take the lead on this coming year's outing. I’ll be making a few changes, keeping a couple of the rides I’ve always led and adding a couple of new ones. Instead of basing the rides out of Mesa, all rides will be based out of Fountain Hills, AZ. A couple of options for hotels would be the Fountain Park Hotel right across the street from ride starting location or Comfort Inn 3 miles away. Loretta and I will be staying at McDowell Mountain Regional Park in our camper just a few miles north of Fountain Hills. There should be tent and unimproved campsites available there.

Fountain Hills is a small, beautiful municipality just east of Scottsdale on Hy 87 coming into Phoenix from Payson. There are several nice hotels and restaurants in town and Scottsdale/Phoenix are minutes away. The rides I have planned will be moderate/fast paced road/mountain starting with a 20-mile mountain bike ride on Monday, January 23. A 55-mile loop around through Scottsdale on Tuesday, January 24. A 35 mile out and back to Paradise Valley on Wednesday, January 25 and finally a 20-mile loop around the town of Fountain Hills on the last day, Thursday, January 26 which will leave time to travel back to Albuquerque afterwards. You are welcome to join any or all the rides or go out on your own on any of the days that routes don’t interest you. I’ll be posting the ride specifics with RWGPS data in the next few weeks. Hope to see you there!
