This dirt/gravel ride will start ay my house (2840 Rio Grande Blvd NW). Park in the open lot just north of the house.
This is a gravel/dirt ride in the Albuquerque Bosque area along mostly single tracks and irrigation ditch banks. We will ride west from the start on Campbell Road to the Bosque. We will ride south through the Bosque to just south of Rio Bravo where we will transition to the ditch bank. When we reach Valle de Oro we will ride through the Wildlife Refuge out to Second Street. We will ride Second Street north to the Chavez Loop and follow the loop west until we can return to the ditch bank. From there we will return via the route we used to go south.
Any bike with wide tires that can get through a bit of sand will be fine for this ride. In some spots you may need to walk your bike through the short spans of sand if your tires are not wide enough.
We will stay together and will take our time on this ride. If you have not spent much time on the dirt tracks in the Bosque you will enjoy the much different view of the Bosque compared to riding the Bosque River Trail.
Bring plenty of water.
