This Ride is being conducted in accordance with the NMTS Club Rides During Pandemic document that is available on the NMTS website homepage.
Since time immemorial NMTS has held a picnic at Oak Flats during Labor Day weekend. We can't do that as a group this year but we can still do it individually! Barbara and I are going to carry our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to Oak Flats and eat them under a tree. Join us if you can, virtually of course. Note that this is strictly a bring-your-own event! Neither the club nor the ride leaders will be providing food or water at Oak Flats.
The full-length route linked below is an out-and-back starting at Alameda Open Space and proceeding via Alameda, N Guadalupe, 4th, Roy, Tramway, old US 66, and NM 337. Feel free to ride the whole thing or shorten it by starting anywhere you'd like along the way. (Traditional starting points for the picnic ride in the past have been Smith's at Tramway and Central, and the Tijeras library; both of those would be fine this year also.) The specific route is available at https://ridewithgps.com/routes/33937329.
