On Tuesday, January 21 before the Phoenix in January rides I will be doing a mountain bike ride for anyone who is interested in experiencing some of the best and most iconic Sonoran Desert Trail riding on the planet. The ride will be an intermediate level ride of about 20 miles within McDowell Mountain Regional Park. There is very little technical riding and most of the trails are nice flowing single track. The ride will start at the Four Peaks Trailhead Lot just after the entrance to the park. Park entry fee is $7 so I suggest carpooling. I have room for two extra bikes and riders so contact me and we can meet up in Fountain Hills, AZ where I’m staying and drive out to the park. The ride starts with a 6 mile section of one of my favorite trails - Escondido. From there we will climb another 6 miles up Pemberton (the parks most iconic trail) and stop at the MTB Gazebo for a break before continuing on to Gooseneck, Rock Knob and a fast decent back to the start via Bluff, Granite and Shalom. After the ride all are invited to shower, change, eat a burger and drink a brew at Mike’s condo.
