Five "Fingers" Climbs

The Five "Fingers" Climbs are short but extremely steep roads in the Glenwood Hills area of Albuquerque, east of Tramway and Montogmery that you can use to practice climbing or wreck your knees. These are called "fingers" since they each stretch east into the Sandias like fingers, I guess. Some of these must be 25% slopes, I don't know how cars manage in the winter (if it ever snows again). These can be incorporated into other rides like the Fabulous Foothills Ride. From south to north, they are:

Deer Trail Pl.
Sunset Canyon
Skyline Ct.
CedarBrook Ave.
Emudito Trailhead Road.

These have some impressive houses with expansive views to the west.

Getting There: Go east from Montgomery and Tramway, right on Sunset Canyon, then left up Hidden Valley Rd.

Options: As a warmup there are other lower hills to warmup on. For instance, there is Manitoba from Juan Tabo to Tramway, or Spain from Juan Tabo to Tramway. The Elena Gallegos Open Space Rd. is a nice climb.
Also, there is the La Luz Trailhead road further north.
